Book of Numbers.

Book of Number.

Chapter 1 – Number of all armed men over 20 years of age.

Israel’s first census. Later on the birth of Jesus was linked to the census. It is therefore understandable that God does not like King David’s idea of introducing a census for warfare. God himself should have instituted that rule. David is also punished for it.

We have received the Spirit of Jesus – the Holy Spirit. See Ephesians 6 -11: Put on the whole armor of God so that you can withstand Satan’s insidious attacks. We do not fight against people, but against powers and authorities, against the evil rulers of the invisible world.

It must be understood, that we fight in prayer with the Spirit of Jesus the Holy Spirit against the influence Satan still has here on earth, because Adam and Eve let Satan seduce them. We do not fight against the spiritual powers in the universe, God takes care of them. From the beginning, God gave mankind the earth, not outer space. It can be dangerous to fight in prayer against powers in space, unless we have received the call from Jesus personally.

God sends his mighty angels to such tasks. See the book of Daniel: chapter 12: Michael is the great leader of the angelic army that fights for the nations.

Chapter 3 – 12. Priestly service.

I recognize the Levites as substitutes for the firstborn sons among the people of Israel. For since the day I killed the firstborn sons of Egypt, as I lead the poeple out of bondag from Faro, the firstborn sons and animals of Israel have belonged to me. Again, a universal law which applies forever and which God himself also respects.

Chapter 8 – 18.

I entrust the Levites to Aaron, they shall perform their sacred duties in the Tabernacle on behalf of the people, and bring the people’s sacrifices to atone for their sins. Then the people of Israel will not be afflicted with plagues, as would be the case if ordinary people entered the Tabernacle.

Romans chapter 6: 3 – 4.

The power of sin is broken. As many of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus where baptized into his death. Therefore we were buried with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the death by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life. Because Christ paid the price for all sin of the world, according to the Old Testament comandments, death do not have power over believer anymore.

Revelation chapters 1-6.

Jesus has made us kings and priests before God our Father. We were created for communion with God. Jesus could therefore save all who were born before and after his resurrection. To him belongs our heart, worship and devotion.

Chapter 6 – Nazarite Promise.

It means to be set apart for service, as was the case with Samuel The Nazarene promise applies to everyone, God could keep his promise and at the same time make an exception with the prophet Samuel, at a time when things were not going well with the priestly service. Samuel is not from the Tribe of Levite: God planned everything in detail beforehand.

1Samuel chapter Chapter 4 – The work with the Tabernacle when they had to move.

It represents practical work that belongs to life, each with its own gift. It became the setting for the Tabernacle where God came down and meet with Moses and the people during the 40 years of wandering around i the wilderness of Sinai.

God gave many different commandments for the people to serve a holy God, who would come down to earth and unite with the world for all eternity. He became the firstborn of many. He took all the world’s sin and shame, therefore all glory belongs to Him. The firstborn is mine – He is the right wine. We must be planted in others – that’s what God have in mind.

4 Moses chapter 16. Korah’s rebellion.

Korah was one of the Levites. Together with the leaders of the people and 250 other Levites, they brought Moses to account. They accused him of placing himself above the others, because they had a spirit of jealousy. A striking point that did not fit in Gods plan, Moses was called by God to lead the people and God had proved, that He was with Moses with great wonders and miracles.

Every servant of God and leader today should also know, that they are called to their tasks.

It all escalated – God proved to Moses and Aaron and to all the people that the rebellion of the Levites was not His plan. The result was a terrifying disaster. Before the eyes of Moses and Aaron and all the people, first the leaders of the rebellion were swallowed up by the earth which opened up – then God came after the rest with fire and flame and burned them and their families alive. God was very careful regarding His commands during the time, when the people lived under the commandments. God meant exactly what He said, othervise punishment was executed.

Because of these disasters and other to us unreasonable things, there are many who do not believe in the Old Testament, but they are the foundation of the New Testament, which God himself personally came and fulfilled in Jesus Christ. He is also the one who will ultimately judge the living and the dead, because he has all power on earth, space and heaven. Today, God allows good and evil to grow side by side like weeds in a cornfield. Only at the end of time will he sort out the weeds and burn them. The end result is the same – the difference is, that we live in a time where we have the chance for forgiveness. We can choose Jesus Christ as savior. If we haven’t chosen, we’ve chosen anyway.

Chapter 17. Aaron’s flourishing rod is kept in front of the altar as a reminder of their rebellion.

We all have a calling and a task in life. We are all called to reign with Christ. With these strong reminders, there should be no doubt about getting life right before it’s too late.
