Christ in the Old and New Testament.


Jesus called out of Egypt.

Hosea 11, 1: When Israel was a youth, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

Matthew 2, 14 – 15: Josef got up took the child and his 

Mother, while it still was night and left for Egypt.

Testimony of Jesus.

Isaiah 35, 4 – 6: Say to those with anxious heart fear not.

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the deaf will heard. 

Isaiah 42, 1 – 4: My servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have put my spirit upon him, he will bring fort justice to the nations. He will not cry out or rise his voice, nor make his voice heard in the street. A bruised red he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not extinguish, he will faithfully bring fort justice. 

He will not be disheartened or crushed, until he has established justice in the earth. The coastland will wait expectantly for his law

Matthew 11, 28 – 30: Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.

Matthew 11, 2 – 5: Now when John heard of the work of Christ ( in prison) he sent word by his disciples, are you the

expected one, or shall we look for someone else.

Jesus answered and said to them, go and report to John, what you see and hear. The blind receive sight and the lame walk, the leapers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them, and blessed is he who do not take offence of me.    

Jesus Christ the savor of the world.

Genesis 3, 15: I will put enmity between you and the woman,

and between your seed and her seed. He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall him on the heel.

Matthew 18, 11:  For the son of man has come to save that which was lost.

John 12,47: If any one hears my sayings and those not keep them, I do not judge him, for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

Jesus rides on a donkey into Jerusalem.

Zechariah 9, 9: Rejoice greatly o daughter of Zion, shout in triumph o daughter of Jerusalem, behold your king is coming to you, he is just and endowed with salvation, humbled and mounted on a donkey.

Matthew 21, 7 – 11: The disciples brought the donkey and the colt and laid their coats on them, and he sat on the coats.

Jesus is betrayed.

Zechariah 11, 11 – 13: The covenant ( the law)  to the people were broken on that day, and the afflicted of the flock, who were watching me, realized that it was the word of the Lord. 

I said to them, it is good in you sight, give me my wages, but if not newer mind. So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages.

Then the lord said to me: Throw it to the potter that magnificent price, by which I was valued by them. So I took the thirty shekels of silver and throw them to the potter in the house of the Lord.

Matthew 27, 3 – 8: When Judas had betrayed him, saw that he had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priest and elders.

He confessed: I have sinned by betraying innocent blood, but they said: What is that to us, see to that yourself.

He, Judas threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and departed. He went away and hanged himself.

The chief priest took the pieces of silver and said: It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury since it is the price of blood.

They conferred together and with the money bought the Potters Field as a burial place for stranger.

For this reasons has the field been called the Field of blood to this day.  

Jesus died to save the world.

Isaiah 53, 4 – 8: Surely our grief he himself bore, and our sorrows he carried, jet we ourselves esteemed him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. 

He was pierced through for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities. The chastening for our wellbeing fell upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.

All of us like sheep has gone astray. Each of us has turned to his own way, but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on him. 

He was oppressed and afflicted, jet he did no open his mouth, like a lam that is lead to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before his shearers, he did not open his mouth.

By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and as for his generation, who considered, that he was cut of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due.  

Matthew 26, 63:  Jesus kept silent, and the high priest said to him: I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the son of the living God, the Christ.  

Matthew 27, 14: He did not answer him with regard to even a single charge, so the governor was quite amassed .

John 18, 14: Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews, that is was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the people.  

Before the crucifixion.

Isaiah 50, 6:  I gave my back to those who strike me, and my cheeks to those who pluck out my beard. I did not cover my face from humiliation and spitting.

Psalm 22, 1: My God why have you forsaken me  – until verse18.  

Psalm 69,21: They gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 

Matthew 26,67: They spat in his face and beat him with their fist, and others slapped him.

Matthew 27, 26 until 48: Then he released Barabbas for them, but after having Jesus scourged, he handed him over to be crucified. 

John 18, 14: Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the people.

The crucifixion.

When they had crucified him, they divided his garment among themselves by casting lots. 

39: Those passing by were hurling abuse at him – wagging their heads.

43: He trust in God, let God recue him, if he delights in him, for he said, he is the Son of God.

46: My God, My God  – why have you forsaken me.

48: One of them run taking a sponge, he filled it with sour vine and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink. 

Jesus are crucified between two criminals

 and laid in the grave.

Isaiah 53, 9:  His dead was assigned with wicked men, jet he was with a rich man in his grave.

Matthew 27, 38: Two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.

57 – 60: A rich man, named Joseph, went to Pilate and asked for his body. He laid him in his own new tomb, which he had heaven out in the rock, and he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away.   

Christ the first to be resurrected among believers.

Psalm 16, 10: You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will you allow your Holy One to undergo decay. 

Psalm 24, 7: Lift up your heads your o gates, be lifted up your ancient doors, that the king of glory my come in.

Matthew 28, 5 – 7: The angel said to the woman: Do not be afraid, for I know you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 

He is not here, for he is risen just as he said. Come see the place were he was lying. 

Go quickly and tell his disciples, that he has risen from the dead, and behold he is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see him, behold I have told you.

In which he also went to make proclamation, to the spirits now in prison.
